Welcome from the Chairman

It is my pleasure to address you during this 2010 / 2011 session.

This is the first year of the newly formed European Forum which aims to bring together IMechE members throughout Europe. Your committee will endeavour to obtain the maximum benefit from co-operation with the new grouping of Branches, and I comment committee members for their continued work behind the scenes.

A welcome addition to the Committee this year is Joseph Mulkis as Young Members' representative, and Richard Riley has taken over from Sylvain Lafon as Website Officer.  New innovations will be proposed, exploring Facebook as a vehicle for news and exchange of views, and regular news emails with links to the website.

In keeping with economies required in the present fiscal climate we will reduce the number of technical presentations this session and substitute informal « pub » evenings in Paris and Lyon. Experience to date proves that these informal evenings lead to useful contacts and technical exchanges, so please try to get along to a meeting near you, or contact us to let us know where a group of you would like to meet.

I look forward to seeing you at these events.
